Information Searching and Skills
Aim
This session will introduce you to Medline and other Ovid databases and show you how to find information to support clinical practice. There will be plenty of opportunity to practise searches during the session.
Audience
This session is open to all staff, especially if:
- You are new to Medline
- You are not new to Medline but you've forgotten it all!
Prerequisites
Participants should be familiar with basic computer and Internet operations. It would be useful (but not essential) to have registered for an Athens username and password for the NHS e-Library.

2.5 hours
Objectives
After completing this session you will be able to:
- Search Medline using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
- Use Medline's tools to increase the number of records retrieved
- Use Medline's tools to limit the number of records retrieved
- Save/print the records retrieved
- Apply search techniques to other Ovid databases
