Public Representatives on NHS Groups and Committees
Representatives can be patients, carers and/or members of the public.
Although no formal qualifications are needed, we are looking for people who:
- Have an interest in the NHS and health related issues
- Are able to work in a team as part of a group or committee
- Are able to look at things with an open mind
- Are able to listen to other people's points of view or experiences
Representatives have influenced:
- the design of new healthcare buildings
- patient and carer information
- improvements to services
- NHS policies and strategies
Support
An information pack has been developed which provides support to representatives in their role and covers the essentials that representatives need to know. This pack is available to download (pdf)

Public Representative Opportunities
Infection Prevention and Control
Members of the public are involved in a range of ways to support NHS Grampian's infection prevention and control activities. This includes public representatives on the Infection Control Committee; and public representatives (trained and supported) undertaking hand hygiene audits and cleaning monitoring visits. Maternity Services Liaison Committee
The Grampian wide Maternity Services Liaison Committee was set up in 2013 and has a key role in planning, developing and monitoring services. The committee is a forum of NHS staff, users of maternity services and voluntary sector representatives from across Grampian.
Managed Clinical Networks
Managed Clinical Networks are groups of health professionals and organisations from primary, secondary and tertiary care, working together to help ensure high quality clinically effective services. Managed Clinical Networks use a range of methods to engage with patients and carers. These networks include Sexual Health, Respiratory, Cardiac, Stroke, Oral Health and Dentistry, Cancer and End of Life Care.
