Medication Planning

If you were asked to stop some medicines before coming into hospital you will be given advice on what to do. If you require pain relief at discharge, a pharmacist will talk to you.

Pain relief medicines may also be prescribed when you go home. This may be simple pain relief medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen or if needed stronger pain relief medicines. If you require to be prescribed strong pain relief medicines on discharge, this will be for a short period only as continued use may cause harm. You will be given advice on how and when to reduce and stop this medicine from the hospital and/or your GP.
